Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Regis falls in season finale at Adams State

Five Rangers reach double-digits in scoring

Alamosa, Colo. - The Regis University men's basketball team (6-10) finished out the regular season by taking a road trip to Alamosa where they battled the Adams State Grizzlies (9-8). The last time the two teams met, the Grizzlies edged the Rangers, 69-64. Tonight, ASU won again, 80-64.

How it Happened: Both teams were shooting well from the field to begin the game. But, ASU went on a 13-2 run four minutes into the game to give them a 11-8 lead. Graduate guard Troy Brady nailed two 3-pointers to keep Regis close. He led the team in the first half with nine points.

Freshman forward Nik Atanasovs also hit two 3-pointers in the final minutes of the half, but the Grizzlies held onto their lead heading into the locker room. The score was 33-25 at the half.

In the second half, Atanasovs hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to seven with 16 minutes to play. But, ASU didn't slow down their scoring and proceeded to go on an 18-9 run to make their lead 62-44. RU couldn't overcome the lead as the final minutes ticked off the clock.

Game Notes: Even scoring across the board wasn't enough to get the job done for the Rangers. Still, senior guard Brian Dawson, sophomore guard Aaron Bokol, sophomore guard Will Cranston-Lown, Brady and Atanasovs all reached double-digits in scoring. Dawson and sophomore forward Alex Cartwright each grabbed five rebounds tonight. Cranston-Lown led the team in assists with five.

Up Next for the Rangers: Regis couldn't quite crack the top eight teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to secure a spot in the RMAC Tournament, thus concluding the season. However, head coach Brady Bergeson is expecting to return a strong team next season who will be looking to compete. Keep up with all things Regis Athletics by visiting www.regisrangers.com.
