Regis cross country adds two runners to 2022 Recruiting Class

| By:
DENVER, Colo. — The Regis University cross country teams are excited to announce the additions of John Murphy and Mariah Heuer to the 2022 Recruiting Class.

John Murphy

Murphy comes to Regis from Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona where he competed in cross country and track, posting career best times in the 5K (19:01) and three-mile run (18:36) as a senior.

He is the second men's cross country recruit inked by the Rangers, joining Eric Casey who signed with the team back in February.

"We're very excited to have John running with us next year. He will bring some high school cross country experience. He and Eric Casey will round the team out as we start our rebuilding of the men's cross-country program," said Regis head cross country coach, John Esquibel. "Both will play a role in us being more competitive in practice as well as in races."

Mariah Heuer

Heuer is also the second women's recruit signed by the Rangers, along with Ryann Sheehan back in February. The former sprinter turned long distance runner ran a 5K time of 20:44 as a senior at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper, Wyoming.

She plans on majoring in Biology while at Regis before setting her sights on medical school.

"Mariah brings some racing experience to the team. She was very competitive in high school cross country and is a runner that likes to run hard and push herself," Esquibel said. "Mariah and Ryann Sheehan will be helping the women's team get back to running with the pack of competition. We're looking forward to having her help our team in workouts and races."
