DENVER, Colo. – The Regis men's cross country team competed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, with graduate student Wyatt Farace leading the charge for the men.
"I think the men were really excited going into today because we had the opportunity to beat Westminster if we ran an outstanding race," said Regis head cross country coach, Evan Verbal. "We ran a good race and just missed them, and that was heartbreaking. But, I'm proud that we had a good day and that we've improved so much between last year and this year."
How It Happened: Farace crossed first for the men in a time of 26 minutes, 56.9 seconds and placed 87th overall. Freshman Demetrious Brown finished second for the men in a time of 28:42.6 in 110th with senior Judd Ogle hot on his heels finishing in 111th with a time of 28:50.4.
"Wyatt had a great day. He paced himself really well and had an altitude personal best. He ran a great race and I'm super proud of him," said Verbal.
Rounding out the top five for the men was sophomore John Murphy who placed 118th overall and finished with a time of 30:49.6. Senior Aaron Bennett ran a 32:30.2 while finishing 120th.
Up Next: The Rangers will be heading down to the Lonestar State on Nov. 4th for the NCAA South Central Region Championships in Lubbock, Tex.
"I think Lubbock will be nice, just because there's teams in the Lone Star Conference that are not as good as teams in the RMAC. We really went for placement today and that meant we went aggressive and it would be nice to have a bigger field so we can get out more controlled and beat more teams," said Verbal.
