Ranger Fall to Mountain Lions but Preserve Winning Conference Record

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Regis University women's soccer team fell to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) 0-1 in a Sunday afternoon match-up at Mountain Lion Stadium. The Rangers move to 5-7-2 overall (4-3-1 RMAC), while the Mountain Lions advance to 5-6-2 (3-4 RMAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Mountain Lions took the first shot of the game in the third minute, stopped by Grace Glover in net for Regis. Glover played 90 minutes for the Rangers, recording five saves and allowing one goal against. 

After back-and-forth possession, UCCS's Jadyn LeDoux recorded the first and only goal of the game in the 21st minute off an assist from Taylynn Levi. The Rangers fought to answer for the remainder of the game but were unable to find the back of the net.  

Despite the loss, the Rangers maintain their winning conference record. Rounding out week four of RMAC competition, Regis ranks fourth overall in the RMAC, while UCCS comes in at eighth. 

Three weeks remain in the regular season. The Rangers head out west later this week for matchups in Gunnison and Durango, Colo. against Western Colorado University and Fort Lewis College (Colo.).  

 
GAME NOTES 

UCCS took 17 shots, while the Rangers took 10. 

The goalies were neck and neck. Glover made five saves, while Alexa Malaspina recorded six in the 90 minutes she played for the home team. 

The Rangers were charged with 11 fouls compared to the Mountain Lion's three. 

 
UP NEXT 

Regis faces off against Western Colorado University (#9 RMAC) at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25th in Gunnison, Colo. The Rangers celebrate Senior Day in their next home game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3rd against Colorado Mesa University.
