Two Rangers Record a Double-Double but Fall to No. 12 Tigers in Overtime

DENVER, Colo – The Regis University Women's Basketball team fell Fort Hays State University, ranked #12 in the most recent WBCA DII Women's Basketball Coaches Poll, in an overtime battle Friday night. The Rangers fall to 2-3, while the Tigers improve to 6-0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Fort Hays started the scoring for the game, with a pair of free throws. The Rangers would answer with a couple of layups and jumper taking the lead, 6-2. Tigers would follow by going on a six-point run but RU would clap back with a steal from Fry finding Alexa Dominguez for three. Fort Hays would close the quarter with back-to-back layups, Rangers lead 12-13.
 
Addison Branscum would score from beyond the arc, first for the Rangers, assisted by Rachel George. Both teams would continue to trade baskets, but Rachel George would record two layups, with RU up 28-25. Fiona Snashall would beat the buzzer with a layup, Regis up 32-31 at half.   
 
Tigers would go on a ten-point run to start the third, until Fry found Athena Saragoza for three. Rangers started finding their groove with back-to-back threes from Dominguez and Snashall. Tigers would take the lead to end the third, 54-51.
 
 Fort Hays started the fourth with a layup increasing their lead 56-51. Both teams would not score for the next two and half minutes, until Fry scored from beyond the arc. Both teams continued to exchanging leads, until Tigers scored a layup going up 68-66. Saragoza would hit a triple, RU up 69-68 with a minute and half to go. Under a minute, Fort Hays tied it up 69-69. After both teams holding it down on the defensive end, we would head into overtime.
 
Snashall would be the first to score in overtime, a pair of free throws. Fort Hays would answer with a six-point run; Tigers lead 78-72. Saragoza closed the lead with a three, assisted by Fry. Rangers tried to fight back but it wouldn't be enough after Fort Hays closed the game with a pair of free throws, 82-77.  
 
GAME NOTES
 
Fry totaled 19 points and 10 assists.  
 
Snashall recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Alexa Dominguez shot 42% from behind the arc.
 
Three Tigers recorded double digit figures.
