DENVER, Colo. The Regis Women's Basketball team opened their 2025-2026 season on Friday night against Eastern New Mexico, but fell to the Greyhounds 52-80.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Caitlin Turnbow opened the season's scoring with a smooth jumper, followed by fast-break layups from
Kate Gallery and
Savanna Staff to put RU ahead 10–9. Eastern New Mexico responded with a six-point surge, but a late jumper from Gallery stopped the run as the Rangers entered the break trailing 21–13.
The Greyhounds carried their momentum into the second quarter, putting up the first six points.
Kaylin Venick broke through for Regis with a layup, and
Mary Crossland knocked down a three to bring the Rangers back within ten. Turnbow and Gallery added layups before halftime, but RU went into the locker room down 43–26.
Jessica Bollwahn opened the second half with a bucket, followed by a Turnbow layup and two Bollwahn free throws to make it 48–32. Allison Emily added her first points of the night, and the Rangers closed the third quarter trailing 62–41.
Eastern New Mexico's pressure defense slowed RU to start the fourth, until Venick converted a layup following a defensive rebound from Turnbow. Emily provided a spark from beyond the arc, draining back-to-back threes off assists from Staff, but the Rangers ultimately fell 80–52.
