DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team suffered a loss on Saturday afternoon to Fort Hays State University, 42-102. The Rangers fall to 1-8 (0-3 RMAC) on the year, while the Tigers improve to 8-3 (0-2 MIAA).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fort Hays State jumped out to a commanding 22–0 lead to open the game. Matt Yost put Regis on the board with a pair of free throws, followed by a turnaround jumper from Logan Flores-Peoples. Yost added another jumper, and Flores-Peoples converted a four-point play on a one-and-one opportunity. Cooper Frith knocked down two free throws, and Dylan Forbord capped the first half scoring with a layup as the Rangers trailed 55–20 at the break.
Frith opened the second half with a pull-up jumper, while Gunner Walters and Forbord each added layups. Despite the Rangers' efforts, the Tigers maintained control and extended their lead to 78–32. Walters later scored off a steal by Yost and added an and-one jumper late in the game. Frith also connected on a three-pointer, but Regis ultimately fell to Fort Hays State, 102–42.
GAME NOTES
Walters led all Rangers with 11 points and five assists.
Yost grabbed five rebounds.
Dan Mukuna led the Tigers with 21 points.
The Rangers scored 18 points in the paint.
