LAS VEGAS, N.M. – The Regis University Men's Basketball team and New Mexico Highlands University met for an RMAC matchup on Saturday afternoon, with NMHU claiming the 98-51 victory. The Rangers fall to 1-17 (0-12 RMAC), while the Cowboys climb to 9-14 (7-5 RMAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Luke Soden scored on an offensive rebound to start the scoring for the Rangers, with Gunner Walters and Nick Marabito adding jumpers as well. Logan Flores-People grabbed a steal, taking it in for a driving layup to bring the score to 11-16. Walters scored the next eight points for Regis, but the Cowboys' lead grew to 33-19. Soden ended the run, but NMHU quickly started another, mangning to take a 47-24 lead into halftime.
Soden scored from the free throw line coming out of the break, and Dylan Forbord added a turnaround jumper. Cooper Frith set up Flores-Peoples from deep, while Walters found Forbord for a layup, but RU struggled to cut into the deficit. Soden connected on a three, and Walters scored both with a J and two free throws. Marabito and People-Flores added two late driving layups, bringing the final score to 51-98.
