Frykholm and Payne Highlight Rangers on All-RMAC Squads

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its All-RMAC teams and major award winners this afternoon with the Rangers taking home six selections, including two major awards.

Head Coach Jeff Frykholm and Goalkeeper Maggie Payne highlight those major awards for the Rangers with Frykholm earning the conference's Coach of the Year and Payne being named the Goalkeeper of the Year.

This is the first time in either of their careers they have earned a major award with it also being the first time for Regis to be represented in the major awards since 2017 when previous Head Coach JB Belzer was named the RMAC Coach of the Year.

Frykholm was voted to this honor while leading Regis to one of their best years in recent history this season with the Rangers currently sitting at 15-2-1 and going undefeated in RMAC play at 11-0-1.

The Rangers finished the regular season with the conference's No. 1 ranked defense and No. 3 ranked offense while also accumulating a 13-game winning streak this season which was the longest one in all of division II.

Payne joins Frykholm with this being the first time a Regis Goalkeeper has been named to this award ever in program history with the last time a Ranger Goalkeeper was represented in the major awards being Alison Cahill as the RMAC's Defensive Player of the Year in 2012.

Payne was a five-time RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week selection this season which is a new school-record for most in a single year.

She finished the regular season with 84 saves, a 0.46 GAA and a .923 save percentage which all lead the RMAC. She also recorded seven solo shutouts during the season while being apart of four combined ones.

In addition to being a major award winner she was also on the All-RMAC First Team.

Joining Payne on the First Team is the group of Fernanda Rodriguez, Paula Igual, Brooke Castillo and Brielle Bickham as well with this being their first time any of them have earned First Team honors.

Rodriguez is the only player to repeat as an All-RMAC selection this season after being on the Second Team a year ago.

Rodriguez bumps up a team this fall after leading the Rangers with a staggering 17 goals scored and ranking second in the conference with that mark.

Rodriguez is currently at 37 points on the year while also having seven game-winning goals. She has one hat trick and four braces with her ranking in the top five of the RMAC for five different offensive categories.

Igual joins her on the First Team as the Rangers' second highest offensive scorer this season while totaling 20 points on six goals and eight assists.

Her eight assists are tied for second most in the conference with her also ranking in the league's top 10 of total points.

Brooke Castillo has served as the Rangers' third offensive option with her having four goals and six assists herself for a total of 14 points.

In addition, she ranks second on the team with three game-winning goals.

Bickham has anchored the defense instead for the Rangers this season with her finishing third on the team for most minutes played while also playing the full 90 minutes in 11 of the team's games.

She earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week one-time with her being a key part of the defense that only allowed four goals in all of conference play.

No one from Regis was named to the Second Team with the final Ranger to earn honors in the release being Andie Rylance as she was an All-RMAC Honorable Mention pick.

Rylance scored just one goal on the season but was a pivotal midfielder for the Rangers as she finished top five in minutes on the team and was an integral part of the team's offense.

The Rangers led all schools with five members on the first team while their six total selections were tied for the most of any school.

The three other major award winners in this year's release include Colorado School of Mines' Bella Campos as the Player of the Year and Natalie Rouse at the Defensive Player of the Year and Black Hills State's Ivy Agee as the Freshman of the Year.
