DENVER, Colo - The Regis University Women's Basketball Team competed in an RMAC match up against Colorado Christian University, defeating the Cougars 67-55.
The Rangers are now 1-19 (1-16 RMAC), while the Cougars are 7-18 (4-13 RMAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colorado Christian struck first, but Kaylin Venick answered with an and-one layup, followed by Emily Allison converting off her own offensive rebound. The Rangers went scoreless for three minutes before Caitlin Turnbow knocked down a turnaround jumper to stop the drought. Venick then connected from beyond the arc, and Allison added another layup to close the quarter, with Regis trailing 25–13.
Allison stayed hot to open the second, drilling a triple, while Kate Gallery sparked a run with a pull-up three and a mid-range jumper to cut the deficit to 27–21. Alicia Barajas added a layup and a three-pointer late in the half, but the Rangers went into the break trailing 38–29.
Jessica Bollwahn opened the half with an and-one, followed by a jumper, while
Emily Allison added a pair of free throws to pull the Rangers within five at 41–36. Caitlin Turnbow added a layup and Allison knocked down a three-pointer from downtown.
Kate Gallery and
Mary Crossland each connected from beyond the arc to close the quarter, with Regis trailing 68–49.
Colorado Christian opened the fourth on a 5–0 run before Gallery and
Kaylin Venick answered with jumpers. Venick added a three-pointer, Bollwahn hit from mid-range, and Allison converted an and-one layup to keep the Rangers battling. Bollwahn closed the game with a pair of free throws, but Regis ultimately fell 89–65.
GAME NOTES
Four different Rangers scored in double digits. Allison led with 17, followed by Venick (13), Gallery (12), and Bollwahn (11).
Venick and Bollwahn each grabbed six rebounds.
Crossland and Bollwahn each dished out three assists.
Five different Rangers each had a steal.
