HOW IT HAPPENED

Nick Marabito sank a three to start the game, followed by two assists from Logan Flores-Peoples, one to Dylan Forbord, and the other to Luke Soden. A quick run for CMU put them up22-11, but Soden ended the run, followed by an alley-oop layup from Gunner Walters to Rifky Sedhom. Flores-People added a triple of his own, but the Mavericks still managed to push their lead back to double-digits. There buckets in the paint by Regis paced the Rangers, but Mesa took a 41-27 advantage into the break.

CMU scored the first five points out of the break, while Marabito's layup and assist to Soden supplied scoring for Regis. The two continued to lead the offense for RU until Forbord hit jumpers on back-to-back possessions. However, the Mavericks were very efficient on the offensive side of the ball, pushing their lead to 25 with eight minutes left to play. Forbord and Sedhom both connected in the paint, and a steal from Marabito resulted in a pair of fastbreak free throws for Soden.
