She twice led the Colorado Athletic Conference in scoring where she averaged 18.5 points per game as a junior and 18.9 as a senior. She was named Second Team All-CAC as a junior while leading the team in scoring in 18 of the Rangers 27 games. Former Regis University Women’s Basketball Head Coach Linda Raunig says, “She (Anita) was my first recruit as head coach at Regis and she truly was a coach’s dream. She was a hard worker, a great teammate and a great scorer that left her mark on the record book.” Anita is married to Bret Koester, a 1993 Regis University graduate, and has worked for the City of Lakewood for 16 years.

Dr. Thomas Duggan, Contributor (1975-09)

Dr. Tom Duggan retired from Regis University in 2009 following a storied 34-year teaching career. Originally from Wagner, S.D., Dr. Duggan moved to Denver in 1949 where he attended Regis Jesuit High School, graduating in 1954. While at Regis HS, Duggan played for Phil Antonelli, who played basketball at Regis University and legendary coach Lou Kellogg. Duggan earned All-State both in 1953 and 1954 while also graduating as the class valedictorian. Duggan got his bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University, graduating in 1960. He then went on and earned his master’s degree from St. Louis in 1961 and then earned his PhD from Temple University in 1975. Duggan was the Regis University’s Faculty Athletic Representative from 1975, his first year at Regis, until his retirement in 2009. Duggan also acted as the Director of Athletics at Regis during the 1977-78 school year. Dr. Duggan was awarded the Regis University Teacher of the Year in 2009 by the student body. Duggan was an associate professor of philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy department in his time at Regis. Former Regis University Director of Athletics Barb Schroeder says “Dr. Duggan was a true proponent and advocate of athletics at Regis. He was a valued faculty member at Regis and was also an avid supporter of Ranger athletics in ways that far exceeded his FAR duties.”

Scott Landgraf, Baseball (1987-91)

Scott Landgraf was from a baseball family and brought his power-hitting to the Regis baseball diamond in the spring of 1988. The first baseman left Regis as the all-time homerun king with 51, which still stands. Scott passed older brother Bob (1983-86) who held the previous career record with 31 homeruns early in the 1990 season, a season in which Scott hit a then Regis season record with 18 bombs. Following his monster season of 1990, Landgraf was named First Team All-Central Region and then subsequently was a 1991 Preseason All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. A native of Denver, Landgraf came to Regis after graduating from nearby Holy Family High School. He was one of the main reasons the 1991 baseball team, who was inducted into the Regis Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008, was so successful. He led them to 34 wins, a school record for wins in a season, and the school’s first ever NCAA Tournament berth in baseball. Landgraf ranks in the top 20 in 10 career categories while ranking second in slugging percentage at .758 and sixth with 141 runs batted in. “There was nobody in the four years I played or the four years he (Scott) played that struck more fear into opposing teams,” states his brother Bob. Landgraf graduated in 1991 with a degree in computer information systems and business management. He currently resides in Newport Beach, Calif. with his wife Angela who graduated from Regis in 1993. He currently works in the commercial real estate business.

Robert Linnenberger, Men’s Basketball (1956-59)

Bob Linnenberger began his collegiate basketball career at Oklahoma University but circumstances led him back to his hometown and to Regis. Linnenberger teamed with fellow Regis Hall of Fame inductee Dennis Boone for three seasons from 1956-59. Linnenberger, who graduated from Denver East High School played in 69 games in his career. When he left Regis he held the career record with 890 rebounds (currently third most in Regis history), and a 12.8 per game average (highest in Regis history). He grabbed a career-best 327 rebounds in 1958-59. He not only was a defensive force but could score, garnering 849 career points for a 12.3 average. Following graduation in 1959 from Regis, Linnenberger entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. Currently retired, he was a teacher and coach at Wheat Ridge High School for 32 years where he earned numerous awards including earning the Colorado Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year award in 1975 and again in 1987. In 1984, he was awarded with the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports honor while four years later he earned the National Association for Sport and Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award. In 2007, Linnenberger was inducted into the Denver East High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Linnenberger and his wife Nancy have two sons, Rob and his wife Anna and Steven and his wife Lauren along with two grandsons, Ethan and Owen.

1993 Volleyball Team

The 1993 volleyball team started off slow losing nine of their first 11 matches but something clicked as they went on a nine match win streak and only lost one of their next 16 contests. Regis finished the season with a 23-13 record and finished second in the Colorado Athletic Conference with an 11-3 record. The Rangers lost to Metro State in the CAC finale in four sets but just over a week later the Rangers exacted revenge by beating Metro State, on the Roadrunners home court, in five sets to win the region and move onto the NCAA Elite Eight. Regis finished the season falling to Northern Colorado in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Rangers were ranked 23rd in the initial AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll and in the final poll of the season they were ranked 14th. This was Frank Lavrisha’s eighth season at the helm of the Rangers and marked the sixth time he had guided the Rangers to an NCAA Tournament berth. Renee St. Marie was named AVCA Second Team All-America and First Team All-CAC, while Niki Ihlanfeldt earned second team All-CAC honors. St. Marie also earned First Team GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Head Coach Frank Lavrisha says, “The 1993 team was a resilient bunch; we started slowly following a very hard preseason. However, the team had a goal in mind and they reached that goal with the regional final victory at Metro State. This was a true team and a joy to coach.”
