Blevins guided the women's program to its best season to date in 2016-17. Regis captured its first RMACÂ Championship title with a 36-hole team score of 616, eight strokes better than the second-place finisher. RU placed three players in the top 10, including a team-best finish of third by GraceMarie Schian. As a team, the Rangers narrowly missed out on the chance to qualify for regionals, but freshman Mary Weinstein earned a bid as an individual.
Weinstein was the first Ranger to compete at regionals since 2012. She shot a 54-hole score of 226 (75-75-76) to finish tied for 10th overall. Weinstein then went on to compete as the first player in Regis history at the NCAA Championship. Weinstein closed out the first round of the 72-hole tournament tied for first with a tournament-best score of 73. She went on to finish the tournament tied for 22nd with a score of 314 (73-81-81-79). Weinstein was named RMAC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year while also garnering the program's first All-Region and All-America honors.
In 2015-16, Blevins and the Ranger men earned their first bid to regionals since 2010-11. RU finished in third at the RMAC Championship, its highest finish in program history, while going on to cap the season finishing 20th at the NCAA Super Regional.
On the men's side in 2014-15, he and the squad of nine experienced a season of rebuilding and working to develop the games of his student-athletes.
Blevins began his duties as the Regis University men's golf coach on July 14, 2014, following five successful seasons at Rogers State (Okla.). Blevins was the first coach in Rogers State history when he took the reins of both the men's and women's teams before the 2009-10 season. He led his teams to nine total tournament wins in his five seasons at RSU (who was transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II).
Blevins led the Hillcat men's team to a No. 18 ranking in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 poll in 2012, and over the next two years, it would be ranked inside the top 25 for four weeks. The Hillcats closed out their NAIA era ranked No. 22 in the final poll. He led the Hillcat women to national recognition when they were ranked No. 25 in 2013. They climbed to as high as No. 21 before closing out the year and their time in the NAIA ranked No. 22.
Blevins began his collegiate coaching career in 1979 as head coach at the University of Oklahoma, his alma mater. He coached there for three seasons before heading to Gainesville, Fla., to take the same position at the University of Florida.
He was named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year following the 1984-85 season. Blevins guided the Gators to the 1985 SEC Championship while finishing third at the NCAA Championships. In 1986, he led UF to a runner-up finish at the SEC Tournament and before he left Gainesville in 1987, he guided Florida to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
Blevins produced nine All-Americans and six All-SEC golfers at Florida. His teams won 14 tournaments, including five in 1984. He had the privilege of recruiting and coaching PGA professionals Chris DiMarco, Scott Dunlap, Dudley Hart, David Jackson, Pat Bates and Steve Lamontagne.
Following his stint at Florida, Blevins began a three-year stint at the University of Iowa. He led the Hawkeyes to their first ever and only Big 10 Championship in 1992.
