Candi Letts

Candi Letts was named the Ranger's Head Softball Coach in the summer of 2024, and enters her second season in 2025-26. Letts joins Regis with more than three decades of coaching experience, including 22 seasons as a NCAA Division I head coach.

In her first season at the helm of the program, Regis posted a 21-30 record. The team recorded the second most stolen bases in program history with 110, including nine against Fort Lewis, the second-highest single-game mark. In the same game, RU hit seven doubles, the 2nd most. Mya Chacon and Olivia Wick were voted Honorable Mention All-RMAC, and led five CSC Academic All-District and 11 RMAC Academic Honor Roll recipients.

Letts’ playing career at Creighton University included three trips to the Women’s College World Series prior to her graduation in 1983. To this day, she remains sixth in NCAA Division I history for saves in a single season and is the single-season and career leader in saves for the Bluejay program. She is also been inducted into the Iowa High School Hall of Fame and the Iowa High School Pitcher Hall of Fame.

After starting her coaching career as an assistant at Creighton, Letts moved on and became the head coach at Colorado State University for five seasons. Taking over the reins in 1994 after the university did not field a team the year prior, Letts built the Ram program into a powerhouse in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The 1997 CSU team finished with a 51-14 record, won the WAC, and was ranked ninth in the nation. After leading the Rams to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, Letts was named the WAC and West Region Coach of the Year at the conclusion of that season.

Heading into the 1999 season, Letts moved to the powerhouse Southeastern Conference (SEC) and led the University of Mississippi program for seven seasons. A 30-win campaign in 2005 stood as the program’s record for single-season victories for over a decade and was the first winning season in program history. During her time with Ole Miss, Letts coach five All-SEC players and a pair of Academic All-American recipients.

Following one season as an assistant coach at Northern Illinois University, Letts returned to the head coaching ranks at Utah State University in 2007. Her three-year stint with the Aggies saw her more than double the team’s win total from the year before in her first season and included a road win at a nationally-ranked Oregon State University squad. Her time at Utah State saw her coach three First Team All-WAC players and fundraise over $63,000 for the building of a new outdoor bullpen and indoor batting cages.

On the heels of a three-year stretch as an assistant coach with the UC Riverside program in the Big West, Letts took over as head coach of Fairleigh Dickinson University starting with the 2013 campaign. With the Knights, Letts totaled 60 victories across three seasons and took the program to their first two Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournaments appearances in 2014 and 2015. Three players were named First Team All-NEC in her time at FDU and a pitcher was named All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Moving west in 2016, Letts spent four seasons in the Big Sky Conference as the head coach at Idaho State University. Her first Bengal squad reached the title game of the Big Sky Tournament as part of a 28-win season and her time at the helm of the Idaho State program included three Big Sky Freshman or Newcomer of the Year awards, a Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, four NFCA All-Region selections, and a NCAA Division I batting average champion.

The most recent Division I stop for Letts was at Stony Brook University in New York. In two seasons there as an assistant coach for the Seawolves in 2020 and 2021, she lent her pitching expertise to a First Team All-America East and NFCA All-Region pitcher who claimed six America East Pitcher of the Week awards in her time under the guidance of Letts.

In 2022, Letts took over the softball program at the University of Saint Katherine, a NAIA program in California. Her three-season run as head coach included a single-season record for victories in 2022 and she had both a CalPac Conference Freshman of the Year and a NAIA National Player of the Week during her time with the Firebirds.

"I couldn't be more excited than to be the next head coach at Regis University,” said Letts. “I want to thank VP/Director of Athletics Thomas Gilhooly, Deputy Director of Athletics Kate Whalen and the search committee for this opportunity. The family environment at Regis is special and I can't wait to get to work with these competitive softball student athletes."
