Daven Bond begins his second season as the head softball coach at Regis. He began his duties August 2016.
In his first year at Regis, Bond led the Rangers to an overall mark of 31-26 and 22-16 in the conference to finish in fifth. Regis earned its second-straight bid to the RMAC Tournament but were ultimately ousted by Colorado Christian 3-1.
RU was led by senior Carlie Sexton who was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Year and RMAC Co-Pitcher of the Year Logan Losh. Both players were also recognized to the All-RMAC First Team while four others were named Honorable Mention.
In his second year, Bond continued to lead the Rangers to success, posting a 38-19 overall record, going 30-10 in conference action to finish third. In their third-straight appearance at the RMAC Tournament, the Rangers fell to Colorado Christian 6-5 in the Semi-Final round.
Senior Logan Losh earned RMAC First Team honors as well as Pitcher of the Year for the second-consecutive season while seniors Lauren Hernandez and Melissa Heronema were named All-RMAC Second Team. Sophomores Jaiden Johnson and Analece Apodaca and freshman Tori Brown were recognized with All-RMAC Honorable Mention nods. Three players were named to the Academic All-RMAC First Team with six others earning spots on the Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll.
Prior to Regis, Bond spent the five seasons at the helm of the softball program at Colorado Christian University where he served as their first head coach. He compiled an overall record of 120-143 (.456) since its inaugural season in 2012. The 2012 season was his most successful as he guided the team to 34 wins and an NCAA Division II National Tournament berth. For his efforts that season, Bond was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year.
While at CCU, Bond led the team to three RMAC Tournament appearances. Following the most recent season, CCU's Charlotte Romero was named the Schutt Sports/NFCA DII Freshman of the Year and RMAC Freshman of the Year. Bond has coached two All-Americans, three All-Region players and 16 All-RMAC performers, seven of which were selected to the First Team.
Bond's coaching roles include the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club, Front Range Christian High School, Metro State College and the USA Baseball Athlete Development Program. He is currently serving on the NCAA Division II National Softball Committee representing the South Central Region.
In addition, Bond has served as head coach of the Colorado Stampede 18 Gold Softball team since 1994 amassing a 768-218 overall record. Bond also owns The Yard Baseball and Softball Academy, conducting over 20,000 private baseball and softball pitching and hitting lessons with over 4,000 players.
