Diane Thompson

Diane Thompson begins her second season with the Regis University women's basketball team in 2020-21. Thompson came from club team BC Denver Basketball in the summer of 2019 as the 16U UAA head coach. She was in charge of keeping her eyes on young talent and was a part of the inaugural program in the UAA circuit. Thompson helped lead her program to one of the top 50 16UAA teams in the nation.

Coach Thompson brings a strong pedigree as both a former player and coach, serving as the head coach at Dakota Ridge High School. She led her DRHS Eagles to Sweet 16 appearances in the 5A State Tournament three of the four seasons that she was at the helm.

Prior to DRHS, Thompson coached collegiately for four seasons in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). She served two seasons as associate head coach for CSU Pueblo and one year each as an assistant coach at Fort Lewis and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

As a player, Thompson was a three-time All-American, including an All-American selection her first season at the University of Northern Colorado and then two more times at California State University - Bakersfield. At CSUB, she led her squad to the 2003 Elite Eight. As a prep star, she won four Colorado State Championships at (4A) Lamar High School in Colorado.

Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from CSUB and is currently pursuing her master’s degree at Regis.

She is married to Mike Thompson with two children, Raya and Crew. They reside in Cherry Creek.
