Josh Kreunen is beginning his third season as a volunteer assistant on the Regis volleyball staff in 2016 where he primarily works with the setters.
He moved to Denver in 2013 and coached Denver VBC's 18's team with RU assistant coach Joel List in the 2013-2014 season. During the 2014-2015 season, he coached Denver VBC's 18's and his team won the Pacific Northwest Qualifier gaining a bid to USAV Nationals.Â
Prior to moving to Denver, Kreunen coached high school from 2001-2013 in Vancouver, WA where the team made the post season each season except for the school's inaugural season. While at Union High School, Kreunen was voted League Coach of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2011. After finishing his college career as a player, Kreunen was a graduate assistant at the University of California Santa Barbara for both the men's and women's programs from 1999-2000. Â
As a club player in the Colombia Empire Region, Kreunen was an all-region setter his senior year. He attended Mt. San Antonio Junior College for 2 years and earned a spot on the all-region 2nd team as a defensive specialist. He then played for the University of California Santa Barbara for 2 years on a squad that was ranked 9th in the country his senior year. Since graduating, Kreunen has continued playing adult club volleyball at the AA level as well as playing competitively on the beach. Currently, he is also in his 13th year as a high school teacher.
