Tom Spicer begins his second year in 2018-19 with the Regis University Athletic Department. Spicer will assist the department in principle and major gift fundraising, campaign management, oversight of athletic annual giving and assistance with corporate sponsorships and fundraising.

Spicer brings over 40 years of high school and intercollegiate athletic experience as a coach, instructor and administrator. His shared commitment to developing the student-athlete in the classroom and in competition has made a positive impact at each institution he has touched.

Prior to Regis, Spicer spent four years as Director of Athletics at Colorado Mesa University, a fellow member school of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Spicer was charged with oversight of Colorado Mesa's 26 intercollegiate varsity sports.
 
In his first two years at the helm, CMU claimed back-to-back RMAC All-Sports Cup titles with nine regular season RMAC Championships and seven RMAC Tournament titles. In total, the Mavericks captured 20 RMAC regular season championships and 13 RMAC Tournament Championships during Spicer's tenure.
 
Prior to his arrival at Colorado Mesa, Spicer served as the Director of Athletics at Colorado School of Mines, another member institution of the RMAC, where he spent nine years overseeing the Orediggers' 16 intercollegiate varsity sports. While at Colorado Mines, Spicer led an athletic department that claimed its first-ever RMAC All-Sports Cup and finished 15th in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings. Spicer aided in the construction, expansion and renovation of numerous athletic fields as well as the CSM Student Recreation Center.
 
Prior to Colorado Mines, Spicer was the Director of Athletics at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas from 1989-2004. Throughout his 15 years and under his direction, Fort Hays State nabbed national championships in women's basketball (1990-91) and men's basketball (1995-96) while finishing as the runner-up in baseball (2000). Also during his time as a Tiger, Spicer achieved numerous facility upgrades and expansions. For his commitment and impact to Fort Hays State, Spicer was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008.
 
Spicer began his lifetime career involvement in education and athletics as a football, wrestling, track and baseball coach at Schlagle High School, Bishop Miege High School and Salina South High School in Kansas. He held his first athletic director position at Durant City Schools in Durant Oklahoma.
 
A native of Beaver, Oklahoma, Spicer attended Fort Hays State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in industrial education and a minor in physical education. He earned his master's degree in education, also from Fort Hays State, in 1977.
 
Spicer and his wife, Kathy, have three daughters and one son.
