The 2015 outing was Trimboli’s best season since 2011. She guided the Rangers to an undefeated stint through the RMAC Tournament to take the title earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Traveling to St. Mary’s (Tx.) to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, RU went 1-2, including a dramatic and impressive come from behind 11-10 victory over Texas Woman’s to extend their season one more game. The team finished the season with an overall record of 32-19 (.627) and 22-11 (.667) in the RMAC. The win percentages are Trimboli’s best in her five years at the helm.
Trimboli made quite the splash in her first season at the helm of the Regis softball team in 2010. Trimboli took the Rangers to their first NCAA Division II Tournament since 2006 and finished the season with a 33-24 record.
Regis started slow but ended with a bang which included an improbable run to the RMAC Tournament Championship on a homerun in the bottom of the seventh by junior Nikki Haberkorn. Regis entered the tournament as the four-seed and quickly dispensed of their first three opponents before falling to Adams State in the championship game. The two teams had to play again because the Rangers were undefeated heading into the game. Regis got the revenge they were seeking with Haberkorn's heroics.
Regis was the only RMAC team to win a game in the NCAA Tournament as they upset host Augustana College before bowing out by losing to Minnesota-Duluth and Augustana. Trimboli, who replaced Dana Lillard, became the fourth head coach in program history. She offically began her duties on August 15th, 2010.
Trimboli, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., most recently was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. She began there in October 2009 and previously was an assistant coach at Portland State during the 2008-09 season. In 2010, Trimboli helped the Central Florida to a 36-23 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Her one season at Portland State proved to be successful as she helped lead the Vikings to a Pacific Coast Softball Conference title with a school-best 15-5 conference record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Not a stranger to the RMAC, Trimboli spent one seasons as an assistant coach at Colorado Mines during the 2008 season. In 2008, she helped lead the Orediggers to a 38-19 overall record and the RMAC Championship.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Trimboli earned All-Big 12 honors three times, including first team honors both her freshman and senior seasons. She also earned NCAA All-Midwest accolades twice. Her 2002 Husker team earned a spot in the Women’s College World Series, finishing fifth, while helping UNL to Big 12 titles in 2001 and 2004. Trimboli was also named Big 12 All-Tournament twice, while earning a spot on the Big 12 10th Anniversary Team.
Trimboli ranks in the top 10 in Big 12 history in at bats (772) and RBIs with 173. She ranks in the top 10 in eight separate career categories in Nebraska history, with her 232 career hits ranking fifth.
Trimboli was drafted by the Akron Racers in 2004 and was named a NPF All-Star as a rookie before helping the Chicago Bandits to the NPF Championship in 2005. She was named the NPF Championship MVP after leading the Chicago Bandits to the championship in 2008 and a year later earned her third NPF Championship also with the Bandits. Trimboli played the 2011 season with the Akron Racers.
