Tony McCall Named Next Head Men's Soccer Coach at Regis University

Denver, Colo.:  Regis University Director of Athletics Barbara Schroeder announced today the hiring of Tony McCall as the new Regis Head Men's Soccer Coach.  McCall replaces Keith Tiemeyer who left Regis to become an assistant coach at NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin-Madison.

McCall currently works at Sports Source where he travels the country speaking to prospective student-athletes and their parents to help navigate the college search process.  Prior to that, McCall was Technical Director within the Colorado Storm Soccer Association from 2005-2007.  He was responsible for over 100 local soccer coaches and their education as well as the organizations player development and the overall budget of the Colorado Storm.

McCall currently sits on the Board of Directors for the National Soccer Coaches Association which is the largest coaches organization, regardless of sport, in the world.  He has been on the board of the almost 20,000 member association since 2003.

"To have the opportunity to work at an academic institution like Regis is a dream" states McCall.  "The mission of the university is to develop students for a changing world, and to work with quality young men and recruit and develop the leaders of tomorrow is something I am looking forward to."

McCall was an assistant coach at Metro State for two seasons (2002-03) where he was primarily responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes on a local, regional and national basis.  Prior to his stint at Metro State, he was the Executive Director for the Colorado Xtreme Soccer Club in Denver from 1998-2005.

"Tony will be a good fit here at Regis, we are excited to have him lead our men's soccer program," states Regis Director of Athletics Barbara Schroeder.  "With his experience in college athletics and his vast knowledge of the youth soccer scene around Colorado and nationally he will be a great asset."

Prior to moving to Denver, McCall was the head coach at NCAA Division I Stetson University in Deland, Fla. from 1993-98.  McCall won 34 games in five seasons at Stetson including an 11-8-1 record in 1997.  The native of Ireland, McCall got his first coaching position at Div. I South Alabama in Mobile where he was the assistant coach from 1987-93.

McCall also states, "The program is going in the proper direction and I believe that the group of guys that are in place can be very successful not only at the RMAC level but also nationally.  I look forward to working with all of them on a daily basis."

Regis University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
