Box Score Silver City, N.M.: The Regis Ranger volleyball
team began their three-game road swing with a decisive 3-0 win over
Western New Mexico. The Rangers defense limited the potent
cowgirl to just .069 hitting.
Regis, (12-7, 7-3 RMAC) won by scores of 25-19, 25-19,
25-20. For the second straight match the Rangers didn't have
any receiving errors. In the second set, the Rangers and
Western New Mexico (8-7, 6-4 RMAC) were tied at 16 before the
Rangers went on a 9-3 run to win 25-19.
Freshman Christy
Henzgen had five kills in each of the three set for 15 total
and also dug out nine balls. Senior Kerry Grady had a
solid game with nine kills and just one error on 22 swings for a
.364 attack percentage. Fellow senior Jessica Howe also
put down nine balls, while senior Erin Anderson had
seven kills.
Freshman Sage Martinson
led the Ranger defense with 12 digs with sophomore Jordan Hughes
getting 10. Senior setter Devin Eckhardt
averaged over 12 assists per set finishing with 37 and 10
digs. Howe had four blocks with Eckhardt and sophomore
Caitlin McDonnell each had three.
Regis will now travel across the state of New Mexico to Las
Vegas, N.M. where they will take on New Mexico Highlands on Friday
night.
