Box Score Denver, Colo.: The Regis Rangers forced the
Western State Mountaineers into a -.010 hitting percentage while
hitting .348 cruising to a straight set victory in Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference volleyball action.
Regis, 5-4 overall and 1-0 in loop play, had just nine errors in
92 attempts with 41 kills. The Rangers won by scores of
25-16, 25-12 and 25-13. The Rangers had their way at the net
both offensively and defensively with a total of 10 team
blocks.
Freshman Christy Henzgen led all players with 11 kills.
Seniors Jessica Howe and
Kerry Grady
each chipped in with seven kills with Grady hitting at a .429
clip. Junior Lyz Kann hit at
a .545 clip with six kills, while sophomore Caitlin
McDonnell came off the bench to lead the balanced Ranger
offense connecting on five of nine attempts for a .556 attack
percentage.
Freshman defensive dynamo Sage Martinson
collected 17 digs to lead all, while junior Cassidee Young
was able to dig out 10 Western State (5-3, 0-1 RMAC) attacks.
Senior Devin
Eckhardt dished out 34 assists, four blocks and three service
aces.
The Rangers continue their three-game RMAC opening season
weekend with a match against Mesa State Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
at the Regis Fieldhouse.
