Box Score Denver, Colo.: The 21st-ranked Regis volleyball squad couldn't match the offensive power of cross-town rival #9 Metro State in straight sets.
Regis drops to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the RMAC while Metro State improves to 10-2 and 3-1 in loop action.
Regis fell in set one 25-18 and were limited to a .000 hitting percentage with just six kills. The Rangers led 3-1 but the host Roadrunners went on an 8-2 run and never looked back.
Set two saw the Rangers take a 14-13 lead but Metro State was able to score seven of the next eight points to take a 20-15 lead. The two teams went back and forth and Metro State ended up winning 25-20.
Regis trailed just 10-9 before Metro State again went on a run, this time a 7-1 run to take a 17-10 lead and went on to win 25-17 and take the match in three sets.
The Rangers hit just .046 for the game compared to .217 for Metro State.
Senior Kyndell Highland had a team-high eight kills, while freshman Jessica Wojcik contributed seven. Senior Cassidee young had nine digs, while sophomore Sage Martinson also had nine digs and assisted on 22 kills. Senior Lyz Kann led the Rangers with a match-high four blocks.
Regis will return to action on Friday night as they travel to Lakewood to take on Colorado Christian at 7:00 p.m.
