Box Score Denver, Colo.: George Michael always said "Wake me up before you go, go" and that is exactly what the Rangers did in dispensing Black Hills State in a 3-0 sweep.
Before the Rangers go on the road this weekend to Chadron State and Nebraska-Kearney, they took on Black Hills State who is in the transition to NCAA Division II from NAIA and will be the 14th member of the RMAC in 2012.
Regis improves to 12-3 on the season while Black Hills State falls to 3-12.
The Rangers had just 11 attack errors in the whole match and won by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-12 in just one hour and seven minutes. Regis hit a paltry .368 compared to .044 for the Yellow Jackets. That marks the eighth time in 15 matches the Rangers have limited their opponents to a .087 attack pecentage and less and are a perfect 8-0 in those matches.
Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Flanagan notched a career-high 11 kills in 25 attempts to lead the team with senior Kyndell Highland fast on her heels with 10.
"Tonight's crowd was great," states Head Coach Frank Lavrisha. It was 80's theme night at the Regis Fieldhouse and even the coaches got into the action with Ghostbuster T-shirts and skinny ties. "We were aggressive tonight and I like that, we weren't always sharp, but I liked our aggressiveness."
Senior Cassidee Young led the defense with 12 digs, while freshman Gina Morgan had two solo blocks on her way to four total.
Sophomore Sage Martinson looked in mid-season form by putting balls right where the hitters wanted and dished out 37 assists while digging out six balls.
Regis will play Chadron State on Friday night, while they travel to Kearney, Neb. for the final regular season RMAC tilt against each other on Saturday night.
