Box Score DENVER, Colo. – The No. 7 Regis University men's soccer team dropped an overtime thriller to the No. 21 Colorado Mesa Mavericks, Friday afternoon.

The score remained locked at 0-0 at halftime as the two best teams in the conference battled it out. Regis got on the board first in the 48
th minute as
Cameron McCaslin took advantage of an awarded penalty kick. That goal was his first of the season.

In the 60
th minute, the Mavericks responded with the equalizer as
Ciaran Gibson made the initial save but Trentin Atkins of CMU was there for the rebound. Colorado Mesa quickly capitalized on another opportunity in the 62
nd minute to go ahead in the game 2-1.

RU settled in and controlled the pace of play throughout the remaining minutes. As the clock neared full time, the pressure increased and tension heightened. With just 23 seconds remaining,
Tom Grimley got his head on the end of a lofted ball to the back corner of the box by
Jacob Lever to extend the game into overtime. Grimley continues to lead RU in goals, now with eight on the season.

The game came to a dramatic end after nearly 110 minutes of action on a penalty kick for Colorado Mesa. Gibson, who delivered a stellar game between the posts, could not stop the final attempt as the Rangers move to an overall record of 12-3-1 and 9-3-1 in the conference.

Gibson made nine saves on 25 shots faced. Despite taking turns controlling the momentum of the game, Regis was outshot 25-17.
