Box Score SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 10 ranked Regis University men's soccer team (7-0-0, 4-0 RMAC) continued their streak of brilliant performances on Sunday afternoon beating the Westminster College Griffins (1-6, 0-4 RMAC) by a score of 3-0.
Regis collected their fifth shutout of the season in seven games played. The first half began with both teams jostling for possession and it was the Rangers who locked in after the 20-minute mark. Redshirt-senior
Ryan Urwiller opened up the scoring as he headed a cross sent in by freshman
Porter Milner and beat the keeper to give RU an early 1-0 lead.
Five minutes before the end of the first half, Regis was threatening on an attack when they earned a throw in. Milner, who has become a very dangerous weapon using his unique throw-in, hurled the ball into the box where junior
Nick Frank got up above any other player and headed the ball home for the Rangers' second goal of the half. Milner picked up his second assist of the game on the play and the 2-0 lead remained as the teams broke for halftime.
RU's defense did not allow their opponents to take a single shot in the first half, but the Griffins offense finally found chances in the second half as they took four shots, putting three of them on goal.
Seven minutes into the second half, Regis collected another goal as a cross from one of the Rangers deflected off of a WC player and found the back of the net to extend the RU lead to 3-0. The score would not change for the rest of the period and Regis would leave Salt Lake City with their seventh straight win of 2016.
