Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Garcia nets hat trick to power Regis past Westminster

DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's soccer (7-1-2, 5-0-1 RMAC) continued their hot streak beating the Westminster College Griffins (4-6, 1-4 RMAC) 3-1 and have now won four-straight games. Sophomore Sofia Garcia scored her first collegiate hat trick to extend Regis' unbeaten streak to nine games.

How It Happened: The Griffins struck first in this game, but their goal in the 33rd minute was the last they would get in the game. Regis quickly countered with a goal in the 39th when Garcia got started with her first goal of the game to tie the score at one apiece.

The teams went into halftime tied, but it was evident that the Rangers were energetic and ready to attack. In the 57th minute the team worked their way down the field and into WC territory. A ball was crossed into Garcia who put her header off the crossbar, but she quickly tracked down the rebound and slotted home her second goal to give RU a 2-1 advantage.

Garcia continued her incredible day driving the nail into the coffin as she volleyed home a deep cross from senior Rikki Fix with only three minutes to go in the match. The sophomore's third goal of the match crushed her opponents and the game ended with Regis taking the 3-1 win in impressive fashion.

Game Notes: Garcia finished the game with a game-high six shots, putting five on goal and scoring three in only 46 minutes. Fix added three shots, putting two of them on goal and picking up one assist. Junior Annika Hills tallied an assist as she played the ball across to Garcia for the team's first goal. The Rangers took 15 shots to only eight for the visitors while also dominating the shots on goal category 11-4. RU earned eight corner kicks and conceded only one in the match.

Up Next for the Rangers: The women's soccer team will be home for their next three games against the Colorado State University – Pueblo ThunderWolves on October 6, the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls October 8, and the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets on October 13.
