Denver, Colo. – Fans at the Regis Field House Saturday night were treated to another show of dominance by the home Rangers, as RU Volleyball cruised to their second RMAC victory of the weekend. For the second-straight night, the Regis squad used a high-powered attack and a stout and stingy defense to pull off a win – this time against the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands University (6-10, 3-8 RMAC). The victory was the Rangers' 20
th of the season, advancing the No. 9 team to 20-3 in 2017, 12-1 in conference play.
How It Happened: There was hardly a question about the team in the driver's seat, as Regis came out with guns blazing in the first set. While the Cowgirls mustered a .154 attack clip on nine kills and five errors, the Rangers were near perfect in the opener with a lethal 17-kill, zero-error showing that amounted to a head-turning .739 team clip. RU challenged their opponents in every way, challenging them with two aces and four blocks in addition to the offensive clinic they displayed. Despite their 25-12 dominance in the first, however, the second set went even better.

From the opening points, the Rangers still looked hot. Though NMHU hung around for a bit, right side
Caitlyn Martinez took a 5-6 score to 18-6 with a resolute assault from the service line that rattled Highlands passers and stunted the NMHU attack (-.030). The Rangers, meanwhile, flexed their supremacy at the net, once again, exploding for 15 kills, just one error (.583) and another four blocks. By the time the Cowgirls got their feet back under them the Rangers were at the finish line and the 25-11 set win was in the books.
Â
Roster changes in the third mixed things up for the Rangers, but got the home squad out of their rhythm. Highlands eventually won the set, taking advantage of Regis' interruption in momentum to move the match to 2-1 with a 26-24 victory. Â Â
Â
Ready to wrap the night in the fourth, RU pushed on the throttle and found themselves on cruise control again. Their attack from the service line was a heavy one, and NMHU struggled to make anything happen as a result. Back to business, Regis prevailed in the finale 25-15. Â Â Â
