DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's basketball team (0-4) played a tough game against Pittsburg State University (5-0) but were unable to overcome an early deficit as they fell 73-61 on Friday.

How It Happened: The Rangers found themselves down 5-0 before senior
Mary Sigler converted a layup. Regis traded buckets with the Gorillas and pulled within two (12-10), but it was Pitt State that ended the first quarter on a 4-0 run.

The Gorillas outscored the Rangers 19-13 in the second quarter to take a 35-23 halftime lead.

Pitt State came out of the locker room and stretched their lead to as many as 17, 49-33, with 5:30 remaining in the third quarter.

RU cut the deficit to seven with four minutes left in the game but couldn't stop the Gorillas offense.

The score was 73-61 with 2:20 remaining in the game and stayed that way through the final buzzer.

Game Notes: Regis shot 38 percent (21-55) from the field and 41 percent (7-17) from behind the arch. Junior
Majestie Robinson led the RU with 18 total points in 33 minutes of play. She also added one defensive board.

Chante Church made 3-of-5 three-pointers, a team high, while adding two free-throws for 11 total points.

Regis scored 26 points in the paint, three points off turnovers and added 10 second chance points.

Junior
Shelby Espinosa recorded a season-high 12 rebounds, five offensive and seven defensive. The Rangers were out-rebounded 46-35 by the Gorillas.
