DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's basketball team opened conference play with an 85-48 win over Colorado Christian University. The Rangers have won two straight to improve to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
How It Happened: Regis jumped out to an early 6-0 lead but the Cougars clawed their way back into the contest and took a 10-9 advantage with 1:56 remaining in the first quarter. The Cougars held the lead for just 35 seconds before a layup by senior
Majestie Robinson put the Rangers back on top for good.
RU's largest lead of the game came in the second quarter when they went on a 13-0 run to take a 22-point lead (42-20). The Rangers scored 28 second quarter points, the most they've scored in a single quarter thus far, behind 10 points by Robinson and seven by senior
Mary Sigler. RU went into the locker room with a 45-24 lead.
Regis' defense held the Cougars to just 10 third quarter points as they stretched their lead by as many as 33. The Rangers scored only one three-pointer in the third quarter but were 9-for-13 from two-point range.
RU and CCU traded buckets throughout the fourth quarter and the Cougars never got within 30. Freshman
Emma Sterkel converted a three-pointer with 55 seconds left in the game to secure the Rangers 85-48 victory.
Game Notes: RU shot above 50 percent (50.7) for the first time this season. They were 34-for-67 from the field, 7-for-18 from beyond the arch and 10-for-18 from the foul line.

Mary Sigler has a team-best five assists and four steals. Junior
Shelby Espinosa grabbed nine boards, four offensive and five defensive. Regis out-rebounded the Cougars 55-27.
