DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University softball team finished the series with cross-town rival the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners (28-11, 19-4 RMAC) with another split.

The Rangers handed the Roadrunners another conference loss with a 3-1 first game win and had an opportunity to take the series but came up just short 2-1 in the second game. A slow day offensively for both squads was led by
Emily John going 3-for-6 at the plate with one run.

How It Happened | Game 1: Consistent with yesterday's first game, the Rangers took another early lead in the bottom of the first.
Carlie Sexton gave RU the first run recording the sacrifice fly to right that scored
Bradey King.
Lauren Hernandez made it 2-0 grounding out to second base but that sacrifice hit was able to score John in the process.

Just two hits for the Roadrunners were allowed through the first five innings as the visitors put one on the board in the top of the sixth.
Delaney McGinn opened the home half of the sixth with a walk to be immediately followed by a single to shortstop by
Logan Losh. That single forced a pitching change for MSU Denver.

Alyssa Finger recorded the sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third. McGinn took advantage of a wild pitch to extend the RU lead to 3-1. The Roadrunners opened the seventh with a lead-off single but Losh retired the next three runners in order to give the Rangers the 2-1 lead in the series.

Game Notes: Losh pitched in all seven innings allowing just one run to improve to an overall record of 17-6. RU slightly outhit MSU Denver 6-5 as each team left six runners stranded. John went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run. Ca. Sexton notched the only other RBI for the Rangers.

How It Happened | Game 2: The Roadrunners were the first to strike bringing one across in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Regis struggled throughout the entirety of the game to gain any offensive momentum tallying just four hits.

Hernandez kept the game alive hitting her fourth home run of the season over the left field fence in the lead-off at bat to lock the score at 1-1. MSU Denver responded in the top of the eighth with a solo home run of their own to take a 2-1 lead. The Rangers were unable to tie the score again falling in the final game of the series 2-1.

Game Notes: Hernandez, John and Losh all went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead RU. King and John recorded doubles with Hernandez notching a home run.
Taylor Armitage pitched in all seven innings allowing just two earned runs and recording one strikeout.

Up Next For The Rangers: Regis hits the road again but stays local traveling to Colorado Christian for a four-game series on Saturday, April 8 and Sunday, April 9. First pitch on Saturday is set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
