DENVER, Colo. – The No. 21 Regis University volleyball team captured their fourth-straight win and first in the conference taking down the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners (3-6, 0-1 RMAC) 3-1.

How It Happened: The Rangers jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead at the start of the match. RU continued with their foot on the gas scoring seven-straight points to with the first set 25-16.

Both teams took turns exchanging points at the start of the second set but three-straight from Regis forced a MSU Denver timeout at 9-5. The Roadrunners responded with a five-point run of their own to an 11-10 lead. The Rangers took a 2-0 match lead with a 26-24 second set win.

Regis appeared out of sync after the break and fell behind 7-1. RU could never fully recover from the deficit throughout the remainder of the third set dropping it 25-21.

The Rangers flipped a switch in the fourth and got back on track comfortably holding a 22-14 lead. MSU Denver attempted to comeback but Regis held it off and sealed the 25-21 fourth set win.

Match Notes: RU was outhit 59-54 but once again was more efficient producing a .301 attack percentage. Five Rangers recorded double-digit kills led by
Kelsey Green and
Caitlyn Martinez with 11 apiece.
Caitlyn Burroway,
Nikki Kennedy and
Kristen Hornung each added 10 kills of their own. Hornung produced a career-high .625 attack percentage not committing a single error in 16 attempts. Burroway tallied her fifth double-double of the season with 14 digs. RU held MSU Denver to a .176 attack percentage winning the block column at 7-3.
