Regis Volleyball picked up a key road victory Saturday, winning in four sets against Western State (1-12, 0-4 RMAC) in Gunnison. The win marked the seventh-straight for the 14
th-ranked Rangers, who remain unbeaten in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Â
The teams opened the night battling for an early advantage, trading points through the middle of the first set. Regis capitalized on critical Western miscues, however, gaining separation late in the opener en route to a 25-19 win. That momentum carried the Rangers to a .367 attack clip and a 25-18 win in the second.
Â
Though the home Mountaineers would rally in the third, a stout Regis defense proved too much for a Western State team still looking for their first conference win. After dropping the third, the Rangers rebounded to take home the 3-1 match win.

For Head Coach
Joel List, the battle was part of the plan – a goal of increased playing time for more players meant some necessary bumps along the way. "(The night) played out as I thought," remarked List after the win. "We struggled as expected but were resilient. I'm happy with the situation we were in and how we dealt with it."Â
Â
Sophomore
Nikki Kennedy had her way at the net, notching an impressive .467 kill percentage on 15 attempts. The Parker, CO native also tallied three of Regis' eight total blocks.
Â
Caitlyn Burroway paced the Rangers with a season-best 16 kills and a match-high 20 digs in her sixth double-double showing of the season.
Kelsey Green added 15 kills and two blocks in the win, while sophomore setter
Silvia Basso led all players with 44 assists.
Â
Now 12-1 on the season and 4-0 in RMAC competition, the Rangers will turn their attention to another pair of road opponents. Regis travels to Chadron State (4-8, 1-3 RMAC) on Tuesday before wrapping the week at Westminster (4-7, 1-2 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon.
