DENVER, Colo. – After starting the season on the road for two games, the Regis University women's soccer team (1-1-1) was happy to be back on their home field as they conquered the California State University – San Bernardino Coyotes (2-1-1) by a score of 3-1.
How It Happened: Regis started strong as they had in their first two games of the year. The Coyotes took the first shot of the match but freshman

Rikki Fix countered with back-to-back shots right after.
Junior
Annika Hills broke the deadlock with a goal in the 44
th minute as she forced a turnover and laced a shot into the bottom right corner of the net for the Rangers' first goal of the year.
With the clock winding down CSU-SB pushed the ball up the field and knocked the ball past freshman goalkeeper
Julia Coombs as time expired in the first half, knotting the game at one goal apiece as they teams broke for halftime.
The game went back and forth for a majority of the second half before RU finally grabbed control. Senior
Caelyn Hirschman sent a corner kick into the box that reached the head of senior
Maggie Saras who popped the ball over the head of the keeper, putting Regis in front 2-1 in the 55
th minute.
Both teams tightened down defensively and possession worked back and forth on the field. Sophomore
Sofia Garcia netted her first goal of the year in the 88
th minute that put the game away for the Rangers.
Game Notes: RU doubled up their opponents in the shots category 14-7, limiting the visitors to only three shots on goal. The blue and gold edged out Coyotes 6-1 in corner kicks in a game that could have gone either way. Fix, and Hirschman each tallied an assist while three separate players scored for the home squad.
Up Next for the Rangers: Regis will host the University of California – San Diego at noon on Sunday, September 10 before opening up conference play at home the following weekend.
