DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's basketball team improved their overall record to 9-8 and 8-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 20-point blowout (69-49) over Adams State University (4-12, 2-12 RMAC) on Saturday afternoon.
How it Happened: Regis stepped on the gas early blasting Adams State with a 9-0 run on 3-for-3 shooting to open the contest. Junior
Shelby Espinosa scored the first bucket of the game with a layup assisted by senior
Chante Church. Freshman
Emma Sterkel drained a three-pointer with 2:42 left in the first quarter to give the Rangers a 10-point advantage (14-4). The Grizzly's scored the next seven points to cut the lead to just three (14-11). Sterkel heaved a three-pointer as she crossed half-court that went through the hoop as the buzzer sounded. RU led at the end of the first quarter 19-11.
Regis allowed just eight-points on four buckets in the second quarter while their offense scored 13. The Grizzly's never got closer than seven and watched the Rangers extend their lead to as many as 13 when Espinosa made a layup with 3:10 until halftime. RU headed to the locker room with a 32-19 edge.
Regis shot 50 percent (6-for-12) from the field in the third quarter as they outscored Adams State University 21-17. Church sank a shot from beyond the arc to give the Rangers a comfortable 18-point lead, 49-31. RU never allowed the Grizzly's to get within 18 from there on. Regis held a 23-point advantage throughout the fourth quarter and secured a 69-49 victory.

Whitney Jacob lead the Rangers with 14-points in 28 minutes of action. She shot 60 percent (6-for-10) from the field and converted 2-of-4 free-throws. Junior
Majestie Robinson had 11-points of her own as she went 2-for-5 from the field but made all of her foul-shots (7). The junior also added six assists.
Espinosa had a team-high nine rebounds as she snagged four offensive and five defensive boards. Jacob followed closely behind with eight.
RU committed 22 turnovers which lead to 20-points for the Grizzly's. Regis scored 17-points off of 16 turnovers by Adams State.
