DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University women's soccer team (7-4-2, 6-3-0 RMAC) earned their largest win of the season, routing Black Hills State University (0-13-1, 0-8-1 RMAC) 6-0 on Monday afternoon.
How It Happened: Regis held the advantage throughout the game and took a commanding 4-0 lead into halftime.
The scoring began in the ninth minute of play when senior
Annika Hills assisted junior
Emily Ramos. Ramos received the ball at the top of the box and finished in the far netting with her second touch.
After hitting the side post and the crossbar, junior
Tori Rinsem was able to put away a shot in the 21
stminute of action. Her shot, from outside the 18-yard box, ricocheted off the bottom of the crossbar and into the goal.
The second and fourth goal of the half came in own-goal fashion. Both own-goals came from corner-kick situations.
Rinsem recorded her second goal of the contest in the 55
thminute mark. She was in the right place at the right time to tap-in a cross from Hills.
Just eight minutes later, sophomore
Keegan Storlie bounced a shot off the crossbar and into the path of sophomore
Natasha Wehner, who buried the Rangers sixth goal of the match.
Game Notes: RU outshot BHSU 35-3, placing 15 shots on goal to the Yellowjackets 1. Senior Karyln Johnson got the start in goal and saved the only shot on target, securing first win of the season in shut-out style.
Regis held the corner-kick advantage 5-1.
