GOLDEN, Colo. – The Regis University women's soccer team (7-5-3, 6-4-1 RMAC) came up just short against No. 5 Colorado School of Mines (15-1-1, 12-0-0 RMAC) on Sunday afternoon. A Mines' penalty-kick in the 28
thminute proved to be the deciding factor in the 1-0 score-line.
How It Happened: Regis was forced to play in the own defensive third for much of the first half as the were held without an attacking opportunity.
Mines recorded eight shots in the first 45 minutes and converted their penalty-kick to give themselves a 1-0 lead. The penalty-kick was the determining factor in the 1-0 game.
Junior
Tori Rinsem managed the only shot for the Rangers, coming in the 60
thminute. Her shot was blocked, and the Mines keeper remained untested.
Game Notes: RU tallied one shot and zero on target compared to Mines' 11 shots with six on target. Sophomore
Julia Coombs recorded five saves in the match.
Mines also held the corner kick advantage 5-2.
