Lions pull away from the Rangers

DENVER, Colo. – Texas A&M University-Commerce (5-1) outscored the Regis University men's basketball team (2-2) by 20 points in the second half to complete their come-from-behind victory, 69-83, inside Regis Fieldhouse on Friday night.

How It Happened: The Rangers held the advantage throughout most of the first half. A 7-0 scoring run helped them extend their lead to nine, their biggest lead of the contest, with 3:24 left to play in the opening period.

RU had a 37-31 edge heading into halftime, but the Lions scored the momentum changing basket as the first half buzzer sounded.

A&M Commerce rode their momentum into the second half, shooting lights-out. The Lions were 17-for-25 from the field, 5-for-6 from three-point range and 13-for-16 from the charity stripe.

An 11-0 run with just over 10 minutes remaining gave the Lions a comfortable cushion. They continued to make stops on the defensive end to create their largest lead of the game (17) with 4:31 on the clock.

Regis was not able to get back within striking distance and found themselves on the wrong side of an 83-69 score-line.

Junior Christian Little (4-8, 1-1 3PT) and sophomore Brian Dawson (4-8, 2-5 3PT) contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
