DENVER, Colo. – The Regis University men's basketball team extended their winning streak to double-digits (10) on Friday night. Regis (22-5, 16-5 RMAC) beat the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Hardrockers (7-19, 4-17 RMAC) 77-69 in a game that had many ups and downs.
How It Happened: Balanced scoring carried the Rangers through the game, but the Hardrockers never gave up. RU enjoyed a 40-30 cushion at halftime as both teams shot the ball equally as well, hovering around the 47-48 percent mark from the field.
The early part of the second half saw the home squad build their lead up to as many as 20 points, 61-41, coming on a layup from redshirt-freshman
Chandler White with 8:26 left in the game. The visitors responded with a quick 8-0 run to bring the game within 12 points. A couple possessions later, SDSM&T cut the deficit to single-digits.
Regis kept their lead close to eight for much of this time, but a few missed free throws down the stretch allowed the Hardrockers to come within four points 73-69 with 30 seconds remaining in the game. The Rangers locked down on defense, keeping SD Mines from scoring any points in the final 30 seconds. RU knocked in a couple free-throws and sealed the deal with a layup, capping their tenth win in a row, 77-69.
Game Notes: Four players scored in double figures for Regis including junior
Jarrett Brodbeck (14 pts, 6-15 FG, 2-6 3-pt), senior
Dexter Sienko (11 pts, 5-8 FG, 4 REB, 2 BLK), sophomore
Christian Little (10 points, 2-6 FG, 6-9 FT, 4 AST) and junior
Avonte Nelms (4-10 FG, 2-3 3-pt, 6 REB, 3 STL). Junior

Up Next for the Rangers: The men's team will take on the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets tomorrow night in the regular season finale.
