CHICO, Calif. - The Regis University women's soccer team (0-0-1) opened the 2018 season in Chico, California with a 0-0 draw in a double-overtime, 110-minute contest against California State University – Chico (0-0-1).
How It Happened: The Rangers played a majority of the game in their own defensive-third as they allowed the Wildcats 16 shot attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper
Julia Coombs kept RU in the game with a career-high seven saves.
The Regis offense was able to create just two scoring opportunities, both of which ended in a shot by senior
Annika Hills. Her first shot was a header opportunity that was created in the 17
th minute of play and her second shot was blocked in the early stages of the second half.
Game Notes: The Rangers were out-shot 16-2 in the contest. Coombs came away with a career-high seven saves. Neither team got a look at goal after the end of regulation.
RU had five corner-kick opportunities compared to the Wildcats' nine.
