No. 12 Rangers earn season sweep of Orediggers with 3-0 win

DENVER, Colo. – The No. 12 ranked Regis University volleyball (17-3, 11-1 RMAC) team blew past the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers (15-5, 8-4 RMAC) in straight-sets for the second time this season, beating the visitors 25-13, 25-20 and 25-16 on Friday evening.

How It Happened: The game was dominated by Regis in nearly every category throughout the night as the Rangers finished with a .456 attack percentage, 11 total blocks, and 41 kills. The defense at the net held the potent Oredigger attack to only 33 kills and a .133 attack percentage.

Set one was the best of the night for RU who hit a mesmerizing .652 offensively, pinning down 15 kills in only 23 attempts, and zero errors. Regis continued this trend in the second set with 14 kills in 29 attempts, adding their first four attack errors of the night.

With a 2-0 set lead, the Rangers came out looking to close out the match, having won their last 15 sets. RU made it 16 with a 25-16 win in the final set. CSM won the opening serve with a service ace, but once Regis took a 2-1 lead, the Rangers never surrendered the lead for the remainder of the set. With 20-15 lead, the home side finished the match on a 5-1 run to earn their second 3-0 sweep of the Colorado School of Mines this season.

Senior Kelsey Green led all players with 11 kills and she added a season-high six blocks as well. Next up was redshirt-senior Kristen Hornung who posted nine kills in 12 attempts without an attack error.
