CANYON, Texas – The Regis University men's and women's cross country teams closed out their 2019 season with some notable performances at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Cross Country Championships as the men finished 26th and the women came away with 28th at The Range on Saturday.

Sophomore
Bryan Martinez topped the scorecard for the Rangers, coming in at 121st place overall with a time of 35 minutes, 8.66 seconds in the 8-kilometer men's race.

Freshman
George Kaftan finished second on the team, taking 154th while clocking in with a 36:32.66 finishing time.

Junior
Vincent Frazier was just eight places behind Kaftan in 162nd. Frazier crossed the finish line with the timer reading 36:58.84.

In his final race with Regis, senior
Emilio Tovilla contributed a 168th-place finish with his time of 37:09.18.

Scott Kordziel completed the scorecard for the men in 183rd while recording a 43:51.40.

Freshman
Annika Zenk clinched the top showing for RU on the women's side in the 6k race. Zenk registered a 25:11.73 and took 133rd overall.

Sarah Smagacz came in 153rd overall and second among Rangers. She logged in a time of 25:43.74.

Theodora Zastrocky, in her final race for Regis, was 156th and notched a 25:49.86 finishing time.

Freshman
Lily Saddoris (27:19.48) and senior
Samantha Holland (27:23.83) finished in tandem with showings of 181st and 182nd, respectively. The event was also Holland's last such competition for RU.

Freshman McKenna Uhing closed out her freshman campaign upon reaching the finish line with a time of 30:27.53 en route to a 193rd-place showing.

Junior Ezekiel Kipchirchir (30:39.05) of host West Texas A&M broke the tape in the men's race.

Colorado School of Mines won the men's race with 41 points. The Orediggers had four of the top-10 finishers in the event.

Sophomore Stephanie Cotter (20:53.50) of Adams State surpassed all other runners in the women's race.
Â
The Grizzlies of Adams State (24) ran away with first place in the women's race, placing runners in three of the top-five spots, including the top two.
