RU Held Scoreless Against Dixie

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Regis University softball team (11-12, 8-9 RMAC) was stumped this afternoon as they were held scoreless on the day against Dixie State University (21-8), 15-7 RMAC)  in St. George.

Game One | How it Happened: Regis struggled to make contact in the first half of the twin-bill, recording just one hit in the 2-0 loss.

The Trailblazers got on the board after a hard-hit double to left field pushed home a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.

RU had runners on the bases in three of the seven innings, but failed to capitalize on any of their opportunities. The lone hit for the Rangers came off an Analece Apodaca single up the middle in the top of the second.

Game Notes: Taylor Armitage got the start in game one, compiling six innings of work where she earned two strikeouts while allowing two earned runs.

Game Two | How it Happened: Regis was shutout in the second contest as well, falling 8-0 to Dixie State.

DSU was consistent in their scoring, tallying three runs in the first inning before collecting one run in both the second and third. They added another pair in the fourth and finally recorded the final, game-ending run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Rangers threatened in the fifth frame, putting two runners on bags but three straight outs at third base ended the inning with no runs.

Game Notes: In the circle, Maisie Mortimer put in 4.1 innings, allowing six earned runs with two strikeouts. Kynra Nelson, Tori Brown, Apodaca and Allisha Martinez all recorded hits.

Up Next for the Rangers: Regis finishes off the rest of the four-game series tomorrow morning with a doubleheader starting at 11am.
