The third inning saw the Roadrunners push another four runs across the plate for a 7-0 lead which eventually led to them turning in six more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Regis earned their only hit in the top of the fifth off a
Carly Beard double down the left field line but that would be the only damage done by the Rangers in the contest.

Taylor Armitage picked up the loss, allowing seven earned runs.

The distance didn't take long for MSU-Denver to close, however, as they scored five runs themselves in the bottom half of the fourth to regain the lead at 6-5.
A Kyrna Nelson triple to right center with
Michelle Larose and
Allisha Martinez scoring put Regis back on top in the top of the sixth.
No sooner had the Rangers taken the lead would it be robbed from them as they gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh on a double and a single to the left side for a narrow 8-7 advantage to MSU-Denver.
