Game One | How it Happened: Colorado Christian scored the game's first run in the second inning after blasting the Ranger defense with three consecutive singles to the outfield. With a runner in scoring position, CCU capitalized on a knock to center that plated the solo run. The Cougars came up with another pair of hits but no further damage would be done.
The next two innings saw six straight Rangers retired at the plate before earning two of their four hits in the fifth frame. Lead-off hitter
Morgan Stradley ripped a shot to left field while
Allisha Martinez followed with a hard-hit single to shortstop to fill up first and second. Regis failed to connect through the next three batters, however.
CCU took advantage of a second scoring opportunity in the bottom of the sixth and added an insurance run off a RBI single to right center. With their backs against the wall, Regis lined up for their their final at-bat in the seventh but couldn't catch a break and dropped game one 2-0.
