LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) awarded 191 teams with the AVCA Community Voting Award.
 
The AVCA Community Voting Award is a new award that was started to encourage eligible coaches and student-athletes to exercise their civic duty and right to vote during this year's democratic process.
 
The criteria needed to receive the AVCA Community Voting Award were as follows: 100 percent of the eligible student-athletes and staff had to vote in the 2020 election. The Regis University volleyball team met these requirements and were one of the only 19 Division II women's programs to earn the award. Joining the Rangers on the list from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) are Fort Lewis College Skyhawks, and the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners.
 
Winning teams receive a congratulatory letter, a frameable certificate, and the AVCA will send a letter of acknowledgement to the institution's director of athletics and president.
 
"Our goal as leaders of young people is to model responsible behavior and to instill good habits," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "Whether it's the court, the classroom, or the voting booth, coaches matter in the lives of their players. This award is another way to highlight that fact."
