Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Regis Heats Up Field House With 99-75 Win Over Adams State

DENVER, Colo. – On a very snowy and cold Friday evening where classes were cancelled for the day, the Regis University men's basketball team (13-9, 8-8 RMAC) dismantled the Adams State University Grizzlies (7-15, 5-11 RMAC) 99-75 with their hot shooting and quick start.

How It Happened: In the opening half of basketball, Regis jumped out to a huge 54-23 lead after they shot 20-for-36 from the field with four made three-pointers. The Rangers defense was stifling as they held the visiting Grizzlies to 21.4 percent shooting in the first half. By halftime, senior Christian Little had tallied 14 points, junior Brian Dawson chipped in with 13 and sophomore Toni Rocak added 12. The trio combined to shoot 15-for-24 for a .625 shooting percentage.

Things did not get much better for ASU as the Rangers continued to pour it on offensively. The lead reached as high as 38 points, 88-50, begore the gap started to shrink as the time dwindled down. RU led for 39:22 of the 40-minute contest, earning the wire-to-wire victory after scoring the first points of the game and never surrendering the lead, or even tying with the Grizzlies.

Game Notes: The offense was on full display for Regis on Friday night with five players scoring in double figures, and eight others registering points. Little (5-10 FG, 2-3 FG, 4-4 FT) finished with a game-high 16 points and Rocak (6-10 FG, 2-2 FT) had 14. Dawson (5-10 FG, 1-4 3-PT, 2-2 FT) tallied 13 and freshman Aaron Bokol (2-3 FG, 7-7 FT, 7 REB) netted 12. Redshirt-sophomore Michael Bens scored a career-high 11 points, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the field/beyond the arc and knocking down both of his free-throw attempts on the evening. The Rangers outrebounded their opponents 42-36, while also edging them out in shooting percentage 46.9-34.4.

Up Next for the Rangers: The Regis University men's basketball team will return to the Regis Field House tomorrow night for a game against the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks at 7 p.m.
