SALT LAKE CITY - The Regis University men's basketball team (2-5) continued their road streak as the team took on the Westminster College (Utah) Griffins (5-4) Friday night. The Rangers pulled out a much needed victory in the final minutes by taking down the No. 3 ranked team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
How it Happened: The first half was tight, there were a total of nine lead changes in the first 20 minutes of the game. The Rangers had solid performances from their shooters as Senior guard
Brian Dawson and graduate guard
Troy Brady combined for 22 points. The second half started in favor of the Griffins, a 3-pointer from Matt Kitzman gave them a ten point advantage over RU five minutes in. However, solid scoring and tough defense kept Regis in striking distance. Finally, an 8-0 run by the Rangers tied the game back up at 68 points with just five minutes to play in the game. Brady Bergeson put the ball in his most efficient scorer's hands, Dawson. The guard scored ten of the final 12 points by Regis and propelled his team to the victory.

Brady Bergeson had to say about tonight's game, "We played with tremendous heart tonight. Our kids were down the entire game and found a way to finish strong in the final six minutes. We are a work in progress, but took an important step forward tonight".
Game Notes: Freshman guard
Kai Daniels got his second start of the year, the Australian native grabbed three assists and two rebounds. Dawson and Brady led the team in points, they nabbed 32 and 16 respectively. This is the second week in a row that Dawson put up 32 points, which is his career-high. Redshirt sophomore guard
Kevin Ebiriekwe had a team-high three rebounds and was key to Regis' defensive success. The Griffins were relentless at attacking the glass, they out-rebounded Regis 35 to 12. RU stayed committed to the 3-point shot throughout the game; they took 33 shots from behind the arc, compared to 16 by the Griffins. The Rangers kept up with their scrappy defense and forced 18 turnovers compared to Regis' eight. Redshirt junior guard
Michael Bens had a season-high eight points. Despite losing, Westminster shot 55 percent from the field, Regis shot 49 percent.
