Season-high Eleven Players Score as Rangers Dispatch Cowgirls, 76-42

Balanced offense helps Regis nab second conference win

LAS VEGAS, N.M. - The Regis University women's basketball team (6-3,2-1 RMAC) cruised their way to 2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), Saturday night in Las Vegas, N.M. with a big win over the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls (3-6,0-3 RMAC). The team saw four players score in double-digits.

How it Happened: The Rangers rode their 59 percent field goal percentage in the first half to own a commanding 23-point lead heading into the locker room. Freshman Athena Saragoza ignited a 17-8 run through the third frame by drilling a triple in the team's first possession to open the second half. The team's defense was equally as impressive as they held the Cowgirls to their lowest field goal percentage of the night (19%) in the third. NMHU would put up a small fight in the final period by going 46 percent from the field, but Regis matched them easily with eight buckets from the field and two from deep. RU went up by as much as 38 points in the fourth period and soundly dispatched the Cowgirls, 76-42.

Game Notes: Regis crahed the glass hard as they outrebounded the Cowgirls by a margin of 39-25. The team also tied their season-high in both assists (18) and steals (11).

RU had their best shooting performance of the season by going 53 percent from the field and 46 percent from behind the arc.

Saragoza (6-12 FG, 3-7 3-PT) was on full display in the win. She registered a game-high 15 points and even nabbed her first-career block.
