DENVER, Colo. - The Regis University softball team (3-1) played a doubleheader for the second day in row Saturday afternoon. Today, the Rangers took on the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets (0-2) at the Regis Softball Field. What originally looked like a rainy day turned out to be a beautiful setting for two fantastic Regis wins!
Game One | How it Happened: Graduate student
Taylor Armitage got the start in the circle for the Rangers and pitched all seven innings.
RU took a commanding lead right away in the first inning, graduate student Laura Scheffel batted in senior Kynra Nelson by doubling to left center. Then, a single through the left side by Armitage sent Scheffel across home plate. Armitage then stole home to make the score 3-0 at the end of the first inning.
MSU Billings scored two runs after a big triple to right field, making the score 3-2 halfway through the fourth inning. But, the runs kept coming for Regis. RU scored four unanswered runs to make the final score 7-2 in favor of the Rangers.

Jillian Bartley were key for the Ranger's win. Armitage allowed just five hits through the seven innings and only two runs. She also had three stolen bases.
In the field, sophomore Shayelyn Allen had a game-high seven putouts while also recording an assist.
Armitage got the win, improving her record to 1-1.
Game Two | How it Happened: Game two proved to be the opposite of game one, despite Regis still securing the win. With freshman
Megan Loveland in the circle for Regis, the Yellowjackets took an immediate 3-0 lead in the first inning, aided by a home run and a two RBI single. But, Loveland finished the inning strong by striking out back-to-back batters.
In the third inning, MSU Billings added another run, but RU kept pace by scoring three runs of their own. The Yellowjackects had just a one point lead over the Rangers heading into the fourth inning.
The Rangers started to light the scoreboard up from there. In the fourth inning, doubles from sophomore Logan Taylor and freshman Katherine Raper sent three runs in. Plus, a RBI single to right center from Allen made the score 7-4.
More runs in the fifth and sixth inning kept Regis' lead secure. Finally, a three RBI home run from junior Madison Flores enacted the mercy rule, thus concluding the game. The final score was 14-5, RU.

Carryn Leto had a team-high six putouts, she also had two assists in the game. At the plate, freshman
Victoria McMains went 3-for-4 and scored twice. Flores was 2-for-4 and had three RBIs and a home run. Graduate student
Jade Loe was a perfect 3-for-3 and scored all three times. She also had a game-high four RBIs. Loveland got the win in the circle and improved her record to 2-0.
